About Us

The Future of Snagging

Professional Snagging Surveyors

Our certified snagging inspectors have the most crucial feather in their cap of them all… experience. Having worked on building sites in senior capacities, they have witnessed first hand the good, the bad and the ugly. This puts us in a unique position to apply this knowledge when knowing what to look for.

However minor the faults maybe, these minor faults can be molehills which very quickly end up being mountains. No stone is left unturned when we are carrying out our inspection. If too much time passes before unearthing issues, you can be the one who ends up paying for it. Not just financially, but with the uncomfortable upheaval of your house looking like a building site once again whilst issues are rectified.

It is our duty to provide you with the best service, to the NHBC standard. Our report and if required, the follow up service, enables you to engage with your developer knowing that you have an independent voice. You will receive a full PDF report emailed to you within 24 hours of our visit, with snagging pictures and text explaining what the issues are.

What exactly is snagging?

Snagging is a detailed, through inspection over a specific project. An entire house if it’s a new build or an area of a house where it’s an extension or significant changes to an existing property.

Inspections are made with building regulations England in mind. There are so many standards that builders must adhere to when building a property, and the amount of builds that do not meet these standards is concerning. Using sophisticated technology, we measure, video, fly a drone and more to cover every single detail ensuring the minimum standards are met and exceeded.

As well as the above “minimum standards” there are the more traditional snagging issues, which tend to be the finishes applied in a house / extension. We see this day in day out, where a beautiful finish looks like it has been applied, but when you scratch beneath the surface, a shortcut has been used and we know 18 months down the road when the house has gone through weather cycles it would be unearthed. Finding these snags is what makes us particularly happy.

Who needs a snagging survey or inspection?

Anyone buying a brand new house or flat should consider a snagging inspection. You could argue that if you’re spending anything from £150,000 to £1 million plus it’s crazy not to

A snagging inspection can also be useful following an extension or major renovation project If you have already moved in, and you’re having issues with your builder or developer then a professional snagging report can help give weight to your case.

Is a snagging inspection really necessary?

Many building experts will tell you the importance of having your home, extension, new build home inspected for snags. New homes are being built at a rate we have never witnessed before in the UK, with this we have personally noticed more and more short cuts are taken. As experts in the field we wanted to stop this, houses should be built with the love they deserve for the memories that will be created in them. With shortages of trades peoples and materials, this adds to the likelihood of finishes not being what you envisaged when you waited for your new dream home.
